A pre-launch audit found a breakage already live in production
Before a communication engine opened to a wider audience, I checked everything marked as done. The audit found 17 untracked tasks and 3 critical issues.
before
"verifying in production" statuses, risks unknown
after
3 critical issues found before the wider launch
PostgreSQL Salesforce Node.js
Context. An automated communication engine was about to open to a larger audience. According to the tracker, everything was done or "verifying in production."
What the audit found.
- A request had grown to ~17.6 KB against a 12 KB gateway limit, and one tab returned an error for every user. The database answered in 436 ms: the bottleneck was the request layer, not the data.
- The CRM sync overwrote 6 date fields that 5 triggers depended on.
- A task treated as "future work" already had 1,370 active enrollments.
- Outbound communication had no visibility at all: no way to see what went to whom.
Takeaway. "Verifying in production" is a claim, not a fact. Before every rollout I check what is already considered done.
